Posting Date
All transactions when posted into the General Ledger will be assigned a Posting Date. This appears on the Posting screen when posting down a transaction.
By default the system will use the date the transaction was posted, but this can be customised for the production under Eclipse’s System Defaults where you can choose between a few options.
Navigate to Control Table → System Defaults → General Tab
Select one of the following options under the Posting Date header and then press OK.
Locked: Locks the Posting Date on the Posting screen to the date of posting (today’s date).
Unlocked: The date can be changed by the user on the Posting screen without any restrictions.
Within Period: The date can be changed by the user on the Posting screen, but must be between the starting date of the current period and ending date of the current period.
You can find your Period End date under the General Ledger → Period Close screen.
Once a transaction has been posted, you can see this value in the Budget Worksheet and Ledger Inquiry screen and run reports over this date.
