Eclipse Report Printing workarounds - print to PDF

There are three ways to achieve opening your Eclipse reports in your local PDF viewer. Please see the three options below. We recommend using Option 1.

Option 1: Print straight to your PDF Viewer and bypass the Report Window (recommended)

This option will bypass the default report preview window and will open the report immediately in your local pdf viewer.

  1. Close Eclipse. You need to close Eclipse for these changes to take effect.

  2. In the window where you would normally launch Eclipse, open the File menu. Select Printers from the list.

3. Set your Default Printer in Go-Global as Preview PDF.

4. When running a report you must change the Report Type to Printer by selecting Printer from the dropdown box. If you do not select Printer the report will generate in the default Eclipse preview window.

  • Click the floppy disk save icon to save this as the default report printing setting.

  • The report will then pop up in your PDF Viewer installed on your computer when completed (instead of using Eclipse's Report Preview window).

  • You can then save the PDF to your local computer using your local PDF Viewer.

Option 2: Save straight to PDF on your Drive and bypass the Report Window

This option will bypass the default report preview window and will bring up a Save As dialog box to save the report immediately to your local drive.

1. Set your Default Printer in Go-Global as Microsoft Print to PDF.

2. When running a report, change the Report Type to output straight to your Printer by selecting Printer from the dropdown box. Click the floppy disk save icon to save this as the default report printing setting.

3. The report will then pop up a Save File location explorer to find a drive to save it to when completed instead of using Eclipse's preview window.

Option 3: Print to the Eclipse Report window and then to your PDF Viewer

This option will still open your report in the default report preview window, but when you press the Print icon button it will open the report in your local PDF viewer.

  1. Close Eclipse. You need to close Eclipse for these changes to take effect.

  2. In the window where you would normally launch Eclipse, open the File menu. Select Printers from the list.

3. Set your Default Printer in Go-Global as Preview PDF.

4. When the report window pops up, press the Print All icon. This will open the report in your local PDF viewer on your Computer.
