Understanding the PROD-DETL-SET columns in GL Reports

When running a report - make sure to click the floppy disk save icon to commit any changes to the system before pressing OK to start the report run.

One thing to remember about Eclipse is that it runs reports alphanumerically

  • Starting from blank (which represents zero) to 1,2,3,4,5 etc until all numbers are exhausted.

  • It then looks at letters starting from A,B,C,D,E,etc all the way to Z.

  • This is why you will see the maximum number of Z's in the report "to" column.

  • The number of Z’s determines how many characters the report will run over.

Looking at the below screenshot - the first row is the "from" range while the bottom row is the "to" range for accounts that the report will run over.

  • In the screenshot above, the system will start at blank for the PROD, DETL, SET, IN, F, TX fields and run all the way to Z. So, for the PROD code it’s going to start the report at PROD code 0 then 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.. until it reaches A ,B, C, D, E, etc all the way to Z.

    • By default, all “from” range fields should be blank.

    • Changing the “from” range field will change the starting range of the report.

  • The number of Z's you have in the bottom “to” range signifies how many characters will be looked up for each account.

    • By default, all “to” range fields should be filled with Z’s.

    • Changing the amount of Z’s used in the “to” range will determine the number of characters that will be looked at when outputting accounts to the report.

    • For example: If you only have two Z's in the bottom row of the DETL column, the report is going to exclude all chart of accounts that have three or more characters in their DETL code. Only accounts with two or less characters in their DETL column will be output into the report.
